Kenneth Arnold Obituary

Kenneth Fox Arnold FRANKTOWN - The Honorable Kenneth Fox Arnold, 64, passed away Aug. 19, 2009, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk. He was the son of the late Soule Fox Arnold and the late Christine Belote Arnold. Mr. Arnold was a graduate of Northampton High School and attended Ferrum College. Mr. Arnold, better known by most as "Kenny," was active in many civic organizations. He was a member and past master of Broadwater Lodge No. 71, a member of the Khedive Shrine and Eastern Shore Royal Arch. He headed the Northampton County Cancer Crusade Fund Drive and was past president of the Jaycees and Exmore Ruritan Club. He was past president of Northampton Middle and High School PTA for two years, past president of the Shore Little League for three years, past Cub master of the Shore for three years, and was a charter member of the Northampton Fire and Rescue Squad. He was a member of the The Arc of the United States for 13 years. Kenny and his wife, Pat, organized and ran a special needs camp at Occohannock on the Bay for one week every summer. Kenny was a member of the Eastern Shore Emmaus community and served as a past board member and lay director. He was a lifelong member of Franktown United Methodist Church. He was active in his community and served in many areas. He was commissioner of revenue from 1972-1990. He was one of the youngest constitutional officers of Virginia serving at the age of 29. He served as clerk of the court from 1990-2003. He was a member of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce and was director from 1998-2001. He was appointed to Board of Directors of AAA of Tidewater to complete Lucius Kellam's term in 1998. He served as the Democratic Party secretary for 25 years. He served in the Virginia Association of Local Elected Constitutional Officers/VALECO and was a board member for five years and served as president in 1999 and he instituted the Virginia State Food Drive. He was a member and past president of the Virginia Court Clerk's Association. He was a past board member of the Christian Businessmens Association. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Tinsman Arnold; his son, Todd Arnold and his wife Lisa of Franktown; his daughter, Teri Guy and her husband Lynwood of Exmore; his brother, Thomas Arnold and his wife Mindy of Franktown; and his sister, Deborah Jenkins and her husband Fred of La Grange, Ga. Mr. Arnold is also survived by five grandchildren, Tyson and Ashlyn Arnold and Jake, Jeb, and R.J. Guy. A funeral will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, at 3 p.m. in Franktown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alex Joyner officiating and assisted by the Rev. Charles Mapp. Memorial donations may be made to the ARC Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 624, Exmore, VA 23350 or to Franktown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 130, Franktown, VA 23354.
