John Poremba Obituary

John R. Poremba NORFOLK - On Aug. 7, 2009, retired Navy Chief John Poremba went home to rest in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. John was born March 11, 1957, in St. Louis. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Deborah Feske Poremba; his two sons, Daniel Poremba, currently serving out of the country in Korea and Sean Poremba of New Hampshire; his two stepdaughters, Christy and Kaycee; his mother-in-law, Bessie Feske; his brothers, Mike, Mark, Alan, Al, Wayne, Bob and Chuck; and his three granddaughters, Aaliyah, Brianna and Kaelyn. John was the son of Mike and Paulina Poremba of Rantoul, Ill. He graduated from Rantoul Township High School. John joined the Navy immediately after high school and spent 24 years in the service. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Milcom and General Dynamics. He loved worshiping the Lord and professing his faith. There will be a memorial at the Chesapeake Vineyard Church, 137 George Washington Highway N., Chesapeake, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, with Pastor Elston Brown officiating. The Poremba family would like to thank the staff at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital for the excellent care he received at their facilities. He will be deeply missed by all. I love you. Your wife, Deborah.

Too many years since I saw last John. I will miss our phone conversations and catching up on life's adventures. He is my brother and friend.

We will see one another again one day.

Debra, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Keep on keepin' on. Stay strong in Christ and remember you are never alone.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
