William Simmons Obituary

William E. Simmons NORFOLK - William E. Simmons, 69, of the 9300 block of Buckman Ave., passed away Aug. 17, 2009, in his home. A native of Minnesota, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Ruby Simmons. He retired from the United States Marine Corps, after 21 years of service having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Marine Corps Cryptologic Association, the VFW and the Fleet Reserve. He is survived by his sons, Richard Simmons and wife Cynthia, Kevin Simmons and wife Cheryl, William Simmons and wife Beth and Kenneth Simmons and wife Catherine; a sister, Ardith Mosier and Mary Dewitt; two brothers, Michael Simmons and Thomas Simmons; and five grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren, Samantha and Matthew Simmons and Ricky Kresinske. A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. He will be sent to Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
