Carol Elks Obituary

Carol Ann Elks PORTSMOUTH - Carol Ann Elks, 63, passed away Aug. 21, 2009, after a very courageous battle with cancer. She was a retired teacher's aide with the Portsmouth City School System and a QVC employee. She was a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church. Carol was predeceased by her husband, James L. Elks and is survived by her son, James L. Elks Jr. of the home; one brother, Ronald G. Jarvis of Norfolk; and one sister, Gladys J. Haigler of Monroe, N.C.; two granddaughters and one grandson; two nieces and two nephews; plus countless friends. Family and friends are invited to gather at the home (11 Vail Place) on Sept. 1 from 4 til 9 p.m. Carol will be inurned at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Sept. 2 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, will be serving the family.
