Willard Vaughan Obituary

Willard E. Vaughan Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Willard Edward Vaughan Sr., 79, of the 800 block of Gresham Way, passed away Sept. 5, 2009, in Chesapeake. A native of Meherrin, Va., he was the son of the late Henry O. and Nellie Poole Vaughan and husband of the late Evelyn Frances Culpepper Vaughan and the late Agnes Marie Vaughan. A retired carpenter, he was a member of the Portsmouth Moose Lodge No. 898. He is survived by four daughters, Frances E. Cuthrell and her husband Ronald, Joyce M. Cahoon and her husband Lonnie, all of Kilkenny, N.C., Jackie A. Vaughan and her husband Steve Lewis of Chesapeake, and Elizabeth C. Meads and her husband Garland of Elizabeth City, N.C.; a son, Willard E. Vaughan Jr. and his wife Pam of Hertford, N.C.; two brothers, Earl Macon Vaughan of Bedford, Va., and Lewis O. Vaughan of Chesapeake; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Estelle Vaughan Quigley and John Larry Vaughan. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel.
