Johnston McCall Obituary

Johnston V. McCall Jr. DAYTONA BEACH - On Aug. 26, 2009, Johnston Vannoy McCall Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Daytona Beach, Fla. John was born Jan. 27, 1931, to Mary and Johnston Vannoy McCall Sr. of Sherman, Texas. He married his college sweetheart, Jacquelyn O'Brien, and their loving relationship endured for 53 years. Following a 4-year Navy stint, he became a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner salesman, rising through the ranks to become a distributor, where he gave a start in business to more than 100 salesmen during his 25 years. For all of his accomplishments, he was inducted into the Kirby Hall of Fame. Outside of work and beyond his passion for his family, John loved golf, fishing, traveling to St. Thomas and spending time on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where he developed several properties and a street that bears his name. He will be remembered by friends, family and devoted former employees for his inspiration, his drive to succeed, his wise counsel, a devilish giggle and sense of humor, and for touching the lives of all those around him. To his family, he was a loving and incredibly warm and supportive father and a devoted and cherished husband. John will be greatly missed and will always remain in the hearts of those he touched and inspired! John is survived by his wife, Jackie; his daughters, Traycee McCall Bailey, Kelly McCall, Dana McCall, Ashley Willis and Lynn Flournoy; his grandkids, Amy Simms, Joey Beeler, Lauren Bailey, Alexis Willis and John John Willis; his great- grandchild, Reilley Jolin; his nieces and nephew, Mike McCall, Meredith McCall, Kristian Everett, Robin McDaniel, Stacy Griffin, and Kendall Ferguson; his extended family, Ross Beeler, Johnny Willis, Kathy Silberman and Charles Springer; and many special friends. At his request, a celebration of his life will be held in the future at the place he loved most, Nags Head. For information of his memorial, please call Traycee Bailey at (757) 340-0104.
