Vernon Evans

Vernon L. Evans NORFOLK - Vernon Lee Evans, 23, of the 1900 block of South Lakeland Drive, died Sept. 15, 2009. A native of Norfolk, Mr. Evans was employed with Navy Exchange and Taco Bell Inc. He was a graduate of Lake Taylor High School. He was also an aspiring singer who spent much of his free time with his daughter and in the studio. He was planning to become a Merchant Seaman. He is survived by one daughter, Shavonna Nicole Evans; his mother, Alice Ann Evans; his father, Michael Williams; two sisters, Cubanique Evans and Tyana Williams; four brothers, Michael and Tevin Evans, Marquis and Domenique Williams; two aunts of Norfolk, Gladys Owens and Darlene Lamb and eight others; one uncle, Warren Evans; one nephew, Jamari Mabry; first cousins, Aaron Owens, Shinequa Williams, Shavonne Bethea and April Battle; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 934 W. Little Creek Road. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 1940 South Lakeland Drive one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Chapel, is in charge.
