Roger Corey Obituary

Roger Wayne Corey PORTSMOUTH - Roger Wayne Corey, 50, passed away Aug. 27, 2009, in Bali, Indonesia. Roger was the youngest of four children born to the late George J. Corey and Naomi R. Corey. Roger was known to all as a gifted musician. He loved performing on his drums. His music touched the lives of many people around the world. Roger's memory will be cherished by his only son, Romar Deshaun Wiley of Portsmouth; a sister, Carolyn Spruiell of Portsmouth; two brothers, Thomas B. Corey and Sylvester W. Corey of Newport News; two nieces, Sheri Spruiell-Gill (Lionel) of Florida and Miera A. Corey of Baltimore; one nephew, Michael Corey (Kirsten, Braydon) of Baltimore; a host of other relatives and friends. There will be a celebration of life service Sunday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. in Steele-Bullock Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home.

Uncle Roger I still remember you teaching me to play the drums in the Garage. I went on to play the drums in High school and college and that was all because of you. Thanks for the memories. Your nephew Kevin Corey.
