Kathryn Dunlap Obituary

Kathryn T. Dunlap ZUNI - Kathryn T. Dunlap, 58, died at home in Zuni. Born and raised in South Dartmouth, Mass., she was a 1968 graduate of Dartmouth High School and a 1972 graduate of UMass - Dartmouth. She was an exceptional and devoted educator and teacher for 37 years. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mello Jr. of Delray Beach, Fla.; wife of Cecil John Dunlap; sons, Christopher and Shawn Dunlap; dearest confidant, Danna Ballassai; sister, Roberta Martin and her husband William; brother, Dr. Michael Mello and his wife Dr. Pamela McKnight; three nieces and three nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Franklin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kathryn T. Dunlap Memorial Fund, c/o Shawn Dunlap, SunTrust Bank, 117 W. Second Ave., Franklin, VA 23851. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is assisting the family. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.

Kathy was a wonderful teacher and positive role model for her students as well as for the people who knew her. I am glad I had the opportunity to know Kathy. I will cherish fond memories of her.

I send my condolences to her family and friends.

She will be missed.
