Charles Stalls Obituary

Charles E. Stalls CHESAPEAKE - Charles Edward Stalls, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sept. 22, 2009. Born May 3, 1934 in Hopewell, Va., to the late Joseph and Victoria Stalls, he lived on a dairy farm in Williamston, N.C., as a boy and moved to Portsmouth in 1944. Charlie was a devout believer in Jesus Christ, faithful and loving husband, and honorable father and grandfather. He was a member of Indian River Baptist Church for 34 years where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and servant in Christ. He worked in food service for several years and retired from Doughtie's Foods as produce manager after 11 years of service. He loved fishing and football. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Fay Stalls; five daughters and sons-in-law, Edna Gail and Gary Rymal of Tampa, Fla., Sharon Lee and Stan Walden of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Deborah Ann and Marvin Huffman of Hillsboro, Ohio, Charlene Stalls and William Creekmur of Windsor, and Tracey Stalls and James Ray Jacobs of Chesapeake; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Judith Stalls and Edward Condra III of Smithfield. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters in Christ at Indian River Baptist Church. His family will cherish the memories of his life and the example he gave by living, walking, trusting and finally resting in Jesus Christ. "The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him." - Proverbs 20:7. The funeral will be held at Indian River Baptist Church, 1600 Laurel Ave., Chesapeake, Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. with friend the Rev. Robert Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Indian River Baptist Church, 424-5700. Please share a memory with the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.com.
