Nancy Loy Obituary

Nancy K. Loy VIRGINIA BEACH - Nancy K. Loy, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends in her home Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in New York to Raymond and Florence Knapp. She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Lougheed and her brother, Ronald Knapp. Nancy worked for Central Fidelity Bank, Dominion Federal Savings & Loan and Grand Affairs. She was one of the founding members of the Cape Henry Model A Club, an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 392, member of Beta Sigma Phi and the May Farm Garden Club of Kingston. Nancy's life reflected her deep commitment to her faith, her love of her family and her desire to serve others. Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years, Marvel "Bob" Loy; her children and their spouses, Ann and Gordon Christie, Lisa and Kevin Wheatley, Paul and Karen Lougheed and Amy Lougheed. Nancy is also survived by nine grandchildren, Brandon, Breanna, Gabrielle, Austin, Kayla, Mary, Kobe, Maija, Majerle; and her extended family, Sally and Chris Knapp, Pete, Kathy and Jim O'Dell, Kelly Vance, Trisha, Brian, Scott and Rachel Loy. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Thomas Alberico and his staff as well as Sentara Hospice. The family will receive friends Sunday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A funeral will be held Monday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery followed by a celebration of Nancy's life at noon at Grand Affairs, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cancer Care Foundation of Tidewater, P.O. Box 12693, Norfolk, VA 23541. Online condolences may be made at hdoliver.com.
