Dorothy Harris Obituary

Dorothy Lane Harris SUFFOLK - Dorothy Lane Harris, 82, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Dot was born in Gibbs Woods, N.C., May 26, 1927 to the late Ottis Lafayette Lane and Betty Isolene Spruill Lane. She was a 1944 graduate of Hickory High School. Preceeding her in death was her husband, Wilton Weeks Harris and her brother, Ronald Eugene Lane. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Lane Harris Old and two sons, Wilton Darryl Harris and David Randall Harris; her grandson, Christopher Charlton Old; granddaughter, Melanie Lane Bomar; and two great-grandchildren, Skylar Faith Old and Brendan Lane Old. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Officiating will be Scott and Melanie Bomar. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
