Marilyn McAdams Obituary

Marilyn Anne McAdams VIRGINIA BEACH - Marilyn Anne McAdams, 81, passed away at her home Sept. 25, 2009. She was born in Pensacola, Fla., to Howard and Winifred Maines. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. McAdams. Marilyn was employed by the Virginia Beach Public Schools as a teacher for 24 years. Upon her retirement, she was a volunteer at the Bayside Library for 13 years. Marilyn was an active member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church as well as their Knitting Circle. She was also an avid gardener and reader. Marilyn was a devoted mother and grandmother and tickled our funny bones to the end. Marilyn is survived by her three daughters and their families: Katheryn and David Anderson of Snellville, Ga., Karen and Amir Kangari of Tampa, Fla., Maureen and Murrey Loflin of Virginia Beach, and daughter-in-law, Angela McAdams of Coppell, Texas. Marilyn is also survived by eight grandchildren: Reilly Loflin, Phillip Kangari, Ashley Anderson, Haley Loflin, Hannah Anderson, Drew McAdams, Meghan McAdams, and Jack McAdams; her brother, Bill Maines of Milton, Fla.; sister, Pat Byberg and her husband George of Camden, N.C., and sister, Gail Kraft of Pensacola, Fla. She was also predeceased by a son, Stephen Douglas McAdams, and a daughter, Deborah Anne McAdams. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel. A Mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park and then the family will receive friends at Marilyn's home at 1457 Ewell Road in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Marilyn's name.
