Austin Sallinger Obituary

Austin L. Sallinger CHESAPEAKE - Austin Lee "Scooter" Sallinger, 52, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009. Scooter was a member of Western Branch Community Church, a member and past master of Seaboard Masonic Lodge 56, and was the founder and owner of A.L. Sallinger, LLC. He was preceded in death by his father, Merritt Sallinger. Scooter is survived by his wife, Darla P. Sallinger; his mother, Naomi L. Sallinger; two daughters, Jenny Thompson and husband Anthony and Brittany Sallinger; two sons, Robert M. and Jeremy D. Sallinger; a brother, William Sallinger; and two grandchildren, Brooke and Taylor Thompson. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Pastor Jim Wall. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.

To Naomi,

I had not seen Scooter in over 25 years but he was thought of often. I was so happy to see Scooter had a big family, lots of kids and even grandkids. Scooter was a smart guy and I have no doubt his business was started from ideas and dreams he had for being self-sufficient. My heart goes out to all of his loved ones. I'll be sure to say a special prayer tonight.

Mrs. Sallinger, Brittney, and family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this sorrowfilled time. Although we do not know any members of your family but Brittney we understand the pain you must be feeling and our hearts go out to you.

We know Brittney through her boyfriend,Brad Gavin, who is our grandson. We hate that she has to suffer such a loss at such a young age.
