Though it saddens all of us for what the Gehring family is feeling these days, I understand it very well, as it was for me 364 days ago. Our faith will keep us strong in these difficult times. My heart and prayers will continue for all.
Throughout my childhood I was Georgia's best friend and continue to be today. My hope is that you and your family will never forget that He will never leave us or forsake us. I know that you know this to be true. I am always an email of phone call away.
Blessing,

Georgia and family,
I feel like I knew your dad for a long time. He was a very special man. He was a lot of fun, and I had the best time joking with him. He was always full of jokes and a pleasure to be around. He will be missed. Just know now he is with our Lord, and he is no longer in pain. He is whole again. I pray for you and your family to find some comfort, knowing that many people, loved him and are praying for your loss. I loved Poppy very much.
I love you,

Crew members of the USS Atakapa share the loss of Thomas A. Gehring QMC. He was a valued crew member 1965 to 1968 and will be missed not only by his family but by all the shipmates at ussatakapa.com. He has now been welcomed home by his departed shipmates, http://atakapa2005.topcities.com/Departed.html
Our sympathies are with his family and loved ones. The Atakapa was a fleet tug that was commissioned in 1944 and decommissioned in 1981. During her service to the US Navy, she traveled the oceans around the globe many times. All those who served aboard the Atakapa share a special bond and have many great memories of the friends we made and ports we visited.
