Jack David Obituary

Jack David Jr. CHARLOTTESVILLE - Jack David Jr., a resident of Tidewater for most of his life, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, in Charlottesville from complications arising from pneumonia. Jack was born Dec. 28, 1952 in Nansemond County. He attended schools in Portsmouth and Virginia Beach, graduating from Kempsville High School in 1971. He attended Tidewater Community College from 2002 to 2004 where he was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He worked for most of his career as a transportation logistics professional, filling this role in various capacities for several Tidewater companies over the course of his life. While Jack enjoyed his profession, his real joys in life were music, reading, writing, and his children and grandchildren. He was the son of Horace Lee "Jack" David and Ruth Bowden David. He is survived by his daughters, Denise Shealy of Augusta, Ga., and Jennifer Danser of Columbia, S.C.; his brother, Bruce Lowery of Charlottesville; his sister, Sandra David of Crossville, Tenn.; two grandsons; four granddaughters; and his devoted feline companion, Bob. Private cremation will be followed by a memorial service at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 717 Tucson Road, Virginia Beach, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. His family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice that advocates for homeless persons or an SPCA. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.hillandwood.com.
