James LaRose Obituary

James E. LaRose NORFOLK - James Ernest LaRose, 71, of the 1300 block of Buckingham Ave., passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Born in Rockford, Ill., to the late Grace Evangeline Wiedman and Eugene Martin LaRose, Jim was a retired real estate appraiser in Richmond. While serving in the U.S. Navy he met his wife of 47 years, Carole Ann. Jim attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., Old Dominion College, and graduate school at Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, and was previously a member of Bon Air United Methodist Church in Richmond. He was the recipient of God's grace in his personal life and with his family. He received new life and joy with his grandchildren spending hours playing board games, sharing books and watching baseball. Jim is survived by his wife, Carole Ann LaRose; three children, Laura Brazier and husband Paul of Centreville, Va., Blake James LaRose and wife Mari Beth of Manteo, N.C., Douglas LaRose of Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Jordan LaRose, and Mitchell and Elizabeth Brazier; a brother, Garwin LaRose of Rockford; and a sister, Annabelle Brunell of Greer, S.C. He was predeceased by a brother, Martin LaRose. A memorial service will be conducted at noon Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at a later date. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Missions Fund. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
