Benito Martinez Obituary

Benito Martinez VIRGINIA BEACH - Benito Martinez, 80, of the 2200 block of St. Marshall Drive, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Benito was a U.S. Army veteran and retired general manager for Eastern Electric Wire and Cable Inc. He further enjoyed working at First Colonial Inn of Virginia Beach. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Sonja Martinez; two daughters, Ursula Fortmeier and husband Allen and Margarete Emery and husband John; two sisters, Cora Vallejo and Josephine Dettmer; half-sister, Lupe Sandwick; three brothers, Angel, Gus, and Efren Martinez; two half-brothers, Joe and Richard Rodriguez; a grandchild, Meaghan Emery; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cassimiro and Abel Martinez. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice. Sonja. We are so sorry about Lucky. It has been wonderful knowing him these last few years and the memories of our early Army years. I will miss his sense of humor and laughs.

Sonja and family,
We are thinking about you at this time.
What a great person Lucky was and how much we have enjoyed becoming friends over the last few years. We will miss him greatly, but will continue to keep in touch. I know we are far away, but if you need us for anything lets us know. Love to all Mary and Jerry
