Howard Guess

Howard Guess NORFOLK - Howard Guess, a native of Norfolk and a longtime resident of Pennsylvania and Mount Laurel, N.J., passed away Oct. 10, 2009, at the age of 77. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he graduated from The College of William & Mary. Mr. Guess began his career as a CPA, working for Lybrand, Ross Brothers & Montgomery Accounting Firm; then, at the personal business office of the Estate of J.N. Pew, deceased. Later, he formed his own accounting office, Howard Guess & Associates. He served as treasurer and a board director of Glenmede Trust Company and Kimberton Farm School, a founding member and partner of Stonewall Golf Club, and also, a founding member of French Creek Golf Club, both in Elverson, Pa. Mr. Guess was a member of Ramblewood Civic Association, chairman of Camping, Boy Scouts of America, Troop 76 in Mount Laurel, Eagles fan and season ticketholder for more than 35 years. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Florence (nee Gillikin); loving father of Howard O. Guess Jr., JD and his wife Andrea and her daughter, Alexandria; brother of Betty Guess Williams and her husband James; brother- in-law of Dr. Ross Gillikin; and survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
