Christine Williams Obituary

Christine E. Williams PORTSMOUTH - Christine E. Williams, 83, of the 1000 block of Horne Ave., departed this life into eternal life Oct. 10, 2009. Mrs. Williams was born in Grifton, N.C., the daughter of the late James and Isabelle Leacraft. Christine was a Booker T. Washington graduate, Class of 1946, and attended Norfolk State College for two years. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and a faithful and devoted member serving in the Margaret Lomax Missionary Circle, Usher Board No. 1, and Adult Choir and was an active member of the Cavalier Manor Senior Citizens Group. Christine worked as a sales clerk for Lerner Shops, Pilzer's, Sears and Betty and Bob. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Williams Jr. She is survived by her son, Keith Leacraft (Francine) of Chesapeake; two daughters, Sharon Williams-Mack of Portsmouth and Arleen Williams of Woodbridge; grandchildren, Sheena and Tamara Leacraft and Phillip Mack; godchildren, Dwight Turner and Avis Johnson-Shaw and son Walter Shaw; sister-in-law, Lucille Bell; nephew, Norman Bell; a host of relatives and friends. A homegoing service will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. in New Bethel Baptist Church, 4212 Greenwood Drive, Portsmouth. Burial will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.
