Roland Wyatt Obituary

Roland M. Wyatt SUFFOLK - Roland Michael Wyatt, 60, of Timberville, Va., formerly of Suffolk, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was the son of the late James Finnie and Elizabeth Wyatt. He was also predeceased by one daughter, two sisters and one brother. He was employed with RR Donnelley and a caregiver/ companion to Jeffory Combs. He was a member of the Suffolk Church of God and Suffolk Moose Lodge No. 141. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Mary Elizabeth Wyatt of Timberville; daughter, Terri Lynn Thorne and husband Del of Charlottesville; sons, Michael Rice Sr. and wife Rachael off Erie, Pa., John "Johnny" Rice and fiancée Teresa Holder of Jefferson City, Tenn., Ray "Chip" Rice and wife Beverly of Aulander, N.C.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Finnie Wyatt Jr. and wife Deloris of Riverside, Calif., Shelton Wyatt and friend Christine of Portsmouth, Ernest "PeeWee" Wyatt and wife Linda of Suffolk; sisters, Doris Willis and husband Runt of Suffolk, Iris "Butch" Jones of Suffolk, Betty Lou Upton and husband J.C. of Elizabeth City, N.C.; sister-in-law, Peggy Wyatt of Hobbsville, N.C.; numerous special nieces and nephews; special friends, Glendon "Chick" and Teresa Wine, Jeffory Combs and his special "Angel". The family will receive visitors at Grandle Funeral Home, 148 East Lee St., Broadway, VA 22815 today, Oct. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Alzheimer's Foundation, 250 East Market St., Harrisonburg, VA 22803 or American Diabetes Association, 4335 Cox Road, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
