Janet O'Brien JARVISBURG - Janet Sue Athey O'Brien, 68, of the 400 block of Jarvisburg Road, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at the Albemarle Hospital. Mrs. O'Brien, a native of Parkersburg, W.Va., was the daughter of the late Francis Carlton Athey and Alice Doak Sellers Athey and the widow of William Patrick O'Brien. She was a retired registered nurse and served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps Reserves. She was a wonderful mother, dedicated wife, and loving companion. Mrs. O'Brien is survived by her companion, Ron Strachan of the residence; a daughter, Alanna S. Campbell and husband Timothy of Chesapeake; a son, Michael William Patrick O'Brien and wife Deborah of Moyock, N.C.; three sisters, Shirley Eileen Yoho of Parkersburg, W.Va., Donna Griffith of Ellenboro, W.Va., and Myrna Dunn of Sterling, Va.; three grandchildren, Cody Ledford, Kayla O'Brien, and Samantha O'Brien; and a special caregiver, Fatuma Afey. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Lynn Bellush. A memorial service will be Thursday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. at Hickory Ridge Community Church with Pastor Calvin Corbitt officiating and a memorial service will be Monday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews By The Sea Catholic Church in Nags Head, N.C.
