Lois Watkins Obituary

Lois A. Watkins VIRGINIA BEACH - Lois A. Watkins, 93, passed away Oct. 10, 2009 at Westminster-Canterbury in Virginia Beach. Lois was born in Clarksville, Texas, but grew up and lived most of her life in Missouri. She and her late husband, Charles, moved from Blue Springs, Mo., to Reading, Pa., in the early 1970s to Mathews County in the late 1980s where both were active at Emmanuel United Methodist Church and where Lois was a lay leader and teacher. Lois moved to Virginia Beach in 1996 where she attended and was active at Salem United Methodist Church. She moved to Westminster- Canterbury in Virginia Beach in 2004. She was a model of service to others, adventurous and fun loving. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two daughters, Bonnie Kiermaier of Virginia Beach and Cynthia Smith of Norfolk. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the chapel at Westminster-Canterbury, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, with the Rev. Richard Bridgford officiating. Her daughters will receive family and friends at a reception following the service. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Westminster-Canterbury Fellowship Fund. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, handled the arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
