Mary Buckwalter Obituary

Mary W. Buckwalter CHESAPEAKE - Mary Whitehurst Buckwalter, 97, died Oct. 21, 2009, in Sentara Nursing Center, Currituck. A native of South Mills, N.C., she was the widow of Richard Cooke and Frank Buckwalter. She was a retired registered nurse at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Norfolk. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Starling and husband Robert of Conroe, Texas; a son, Richard L. Cooke and wife Ellen of Chesapeake; a sister, Doris Poe of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Dawn Ploss, Mary Ellen Bishop and Susan Frohwiter; and three great- grandchildren, Nadine Frohwiter, Brooke Ploss and Robert Ploss. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements. www. SturtevantFuneralHome.com.

I was so sorry to hear about your Mom. Wayne and I thought a lot of her. She took care of Wayne for many years and knew him before I did.

Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this time. I have fond memories as a child of Aunt Mary and Uncle Buck and family dinners, they are once again reunited in heaven.
