Thelma Hassell Obituary

Thelma C. Hassell CHESAPEAKE - Thelma C. Hassell, 92, formerly of Chesapeake, died Sept. 16, 2009, in a Middleburg, Fla., hospital. Thelma was a successful business woman with many interests. She leaves behind to remember her life accomplishments four daughters, Gail Philbrick of Anthem, Ariz., Linda Sheeley of Tallahassee, Fla., Victoria Carr of Aberdeen, Md., and Cyd Clemmons of Virginia Beach; as well as eight grandchildren, Chuck Philbrick of San Diego, Calif., Brad Lowry of Orange Park, Fla., Drew Philbrick of Anthem, Ariz., Todd Redding of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Whitney Fentress of Norfolk, Summer Crumb of Norfolk, Ryan Clemmons of Norfolk, and Oliver Clemmons of Virginia Beach; and six great-grandchildren. Due to the delay in the notification of her death and since a funeral was not provided by her beneficiary, a memorial service has been planned in lieu thereof. A celebration of life and final farewell will be held Oct. 31, at 3:45 p.m. at her gravesite in the Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. In honor of her memory, donations to www.preventelderabuse.org are encouraged and appreciated.

Cyd - I was sorry to hear about your mother's death. Both of you were always nice to me and I enjoyed our times together growing up across the street from one another. The years have flown by but I do think of you and hope that you have had a happy and fulfilling life. May God bless & comfort you and your family.
