Wayne Smith Obituary

Wayne F. Smith VIRGINIA BEACH - Capt. Wayne Franklin Smith, 71, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009. Born Aug. 17, 1938, in Chester, Pa., he moved to Petersburg, Va., at an early age. He graduated from Petersburg High School. He retired from Continental Can Co. after 15 years, and ICI Americas after 15 years, and moved to Virginia Beach in 1991 to run a charter fishing boat at Virginia Beach Fishing Center, Rudee Inlet. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Harrison; father, William F. Smith; maternal grandparents, Fannie L. and Morris H. Evans. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie S. McGee and friend Gus Sphor; sons, Bryan Keith Smith and friend Judy Wegman, Wayne Kerry Smith and friend Tammy King; brothers, Ronald C. Harrison and wife Carolyn of Colonial Heights, Craig H. Smith and wife Pearl of Macon, Ga.; grandsons, Ryan Keith Smith, Austin Kyle Smith; great-grandson, Jordan Keith Smith; nieces, Christie H. Tipton, Kadee H. Rodenbo; and a host or other friends and relatives. The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be expressed at www.altmeyer.com.

My condolences to the Family. I went to school with Wayne and used to talk to him when he lived on Goodrich Ave.{I delivered mail} before he moved. Sorry he's gone.
