Irene Weaver Obituary

Irene Vick Weaver VIRGINIA BEACH - Irene Vick "Nanny" Weaver, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, with her daughter, Stephanie and son-in-law Jim by her side. Born May 15, 1921, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Annie Lawrie Vick and Kenneth Vick, growing up in a family of 16 brothers and sisters - 13 of whom have preceded her in death. She is survived by sister, Betty Vick Hoover; brothers, Ralph L. Vick and Robert D. Vick; daughter, Stephanie and husband Jim; son, Richard Butler and wife Dorothy; grandchildren, Presley O. Atkinson IV and wife Sue, Michael S. Atkinson and wife Susan, Rachel DeLong and husband Jimmy, Richard Butler, Crystal Koneful and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Michael G. Atkinson, Sarah J. Atkinson, Sutton DeLong, Trevan DeLong, Shauna, Ryan, Adam Butler, and Chris Koneful. Irene was a wonderful influence on her family, instilling in them her love of art and gardening. She worked for Willis Wayside as an interior designer, Virginia Beach General Hospital, and as a teacher at Tee Dee Nursery School. While living in Florida, she co-owned a Hallmark store. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Most of all she was so proud of her family. Irene's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Personal Touch Hospice for their loving care, especially to Sarah Corprew, who was always there for her care and comfort. Anyone wanting to honor her memory can make donations to the Alzheimer's Association. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 501 City Grill in Virginia Beach.
