Jean Stallard Obituary

Jean B. Stallard NEW ORLEANS - Jean Brickey Stallard, 78, succumbed to Lewy Body disease Oct. 27, 2009, with her loved ones by her side. Born in Appalachia, Va., Jean was a resident of Tidewater, Virginia, for more than 40 years. The past five years, she was a resident of Woldenberg Village in New Orleans, receiving excellent care. Jean was a graduate of Appalachia High school where she played point guard for the women's basketball team. She excelled at track and won several medals at Virginia All State track and field competitions. She was active in fundraising for Norfolk Collegiate School, and received her real estate license. She was an accomplished gardener with a gift for flower arranging. Jean was a loving, giving person who was always ready to help others in need. She was the wife of veteran Tidewater attorney Russell R. Stallard, deceased, and is survived by her daughter, Jean Markham Stallard (husband John J. Kelly III) of New Orleans; and her brother, Darryl Brickey (wife Genie) of Richmond, Va. The family requests that memorials, in lieu of flowers, be made to Woldenberg Village, attn: Rita Austin, 3701 Behrman Place, NOLA 70114. A memorial service will be held in Virginia Beach Nov. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Virginia Beach Methodist Church, 212 Nineteenth St., (757) 428-7727.
