William Naramore Obituary

William M. Naramore Jr. SUFFOLK - William Manley Naramore Jr. passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009. He was born in Lowell, Vt., March 28, 1951, to Blanche Knowles and William Manley Naramore. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Barbara Finnegan; beloved son, Justin, 23; sisters, Mary Speroni of Williston, Vt., and Nancy Naramore of Montpelier, Vt., Sr. M. Clare Naramore of Burlington; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in- law, nieces, nephews, and lifelong beloved friends. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Robert Naramore and Donald Naramore. He graduated from North Country Union High School, Newport, Vt., in 1969 and studied architecture at Vermont Technical College. Bill and his wife Barbara owned Naramore Construction Company Inc., a custom design and remodeling firm, for more than 30 years in Fairfax County, Virginia (11 years), Chittenden County, Vermont (13 years), and Hampton Roads (7 years). Bill was a true craftsman who loved seeing clients' dreams for their home come to life through his work. Bill loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time on the John Finnegan Farm in Lowell, Vt., where he and his friends recently constructed a bridge that crosses the Missisquoi River. The essence of Bill's life is captured through a near lifelong companionship with Barbara, his devotion to Justin, an enduring love for his family, friends and his work. Bill shared his endearing and ever-present, dry sense of humor by delighting everyone with his eye-catching t-shirts, his Vermonter accent and his insightful comebacks. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, 5201 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23701. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Mountainview Cemetery, Lowell, Vt., followed by a reception at the St. Ignatius Parish Hall, Route 58 Lowell, Vt. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Mark Fleming, Dr. Raymond Lance and Dr. Richard Sokol and their staffs for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Virginia Prostate Center, Department of Urology, Eastern Virginia Medical School, P.O. Box 1980, Norfolk, VA 23501-1980. www. Barbara and Justin -- Very sorry to learn of the passing of Bill. We were fortunate in having Bill spent approximately 6 months remodeling our home in South Burlington. We got to know of Bill's humor and one-line remarks during many evening meals we were able to share. We wish you and Justin the very best.
