Bertha Sinclair Obituary

Bertha Beatrice Sinclair NORFOLK - Bertha Beatrice (Moss) Sinclair of the 900 block of Lexington Street, also known as BB, Bertha Beasley, Baby Bea, Beautiful, and B Louise, died Oct. 29, 2009, peacefully in her sleep at home after a long illness. She was 82. She was born in Norfolk on Feb. 10, 1927 to Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Moss. She was a very giving person who loved children and was always willing to help someone in need. She was loved by everyone who knew her. On June 25, 1954, she married Alex Sinclair Jr., a World War II veteran. He endured the battle with her and survives at home. They had a long life together that produced five daughters, Mattie Lee (Johnnie) of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Rosa Burton (Johnnie), Alexazene Hitchcock (John), Gloria Sinclair (Randy) and Thomasine Cohen (Roy), all of Norfolk. Also surviving is her sister, Mary Powell of Baltimore. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mattie, and brothers, Shirley, Allen, Charles, Lewis and Thomas Moss. She leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Viewing hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church St., Norfolk. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel by the Rev. C.M. Springs Jr. Burial will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
