Priscilla Cady Obituary

Priscilla B. Cady VIRGINIA BEACH - Priscilla Baumgarten "Polly" Cady passed peacefully from this life Nov. 7, 2009. Born and raised in Bloomfield, Iowa to Ray Benjamin and Helen Jones Baumgarten, she attended Macalester College, followed by the University of Iowa where she graduated in 1946. She worked professionally as a hospital dietician in La Jolla, Calif., and Amsterdam, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. William J. Cady Jr.; her brother, Robert R. Baumgarten, and is survived by her children, Elizabeth Cady Heischober and her husband Steve, Thomas William Cady and his wife Joanna, Jane Cady Wright, Stephen Cecil Wright, James Robert Cady; and six grandchildren, Stephen Cooper Wright, Caroline Priscilla Wright, Allison Logan Heischober, Rachel Anna Cady, Benjamin Thomas Cady and Natalie Katherine Cady. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was known to all for her sense of humor, creativity and her endless devotion to serving others. She was actively engaged as a leader and a member for 67 years of PEO International, a Christian Philanthropic Educational Organization for women. She was also a member and provided loyal service to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Seaweed Circle of the Kings Daughters, Seaside Smockers, All Saints Episcopal Church, and the USAF Wives Club during her husband's years in active military service. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, Virginia Beach. Her life will be celebrated at a church service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1969 Woodside Lane, Virginia Beach. The burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28. Online condolences may be made to the family at hdoliver.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to P.E.O.
