Barbara Wetzel Obituary

Barbara Ann Wetzel VIRGINIA BEACH - Barbara Ann (McKnight) Wetzel passed away Nov. 9, 2009, at the Seaside Health Center at Atlantic Shores in Virginia Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gerald Bruce Wetzel and sister, Trudy Jo McKnight. Barbara was born Sept. 25, 1932, just north of Braymer, Mo., the second oldest of seven children of the late Lawrence and Herma (Murray) McKnight. She was an accomplished seamstress, avid bridge player, loved to read, and was a wonderful mother, sister and friend. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lisbeth "Beth" Miller and son-in-law Michael "Butch" Miller; her son, Gregory Alan Wetzel, daughter-in-law, Tracy D. Wetzel; granddaughter, Carlin Elizabeth Wetzel; her brother and sister-in-law, Mickey and Maggie McKnight; her brother and sister- in-law, Jim and Tip McKnight; her sister and brother- in-law, Judy and Gary Vanderpool; her sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Bob Peters; her sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Bill Regas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family extends a special thank you to Seaside Health Center and Heartland Hospice for their care and support to Barbara. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, 1264 Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. The funeral will be private with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (Southeastern Virginia Chapter), 20 Interstate Corporate Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, VA 23502.
