Clarence Ostlund Obituary

Clarence W. Ostlund NORFOLK - Clarence "Lance" W. Ostlund, U.S. Navy retired chief warrant officer 4, 89, died Nov. 14, 2009. He was born in Watertown, S.D., to the late Arthur and Ingabord Ostlund. Lance retired from the Virginia Beach Department of Health after 25 years of service. He worked part-time for the Chesapeake Bay Clean -up Program. Lance was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church serving on the Board of Deacons and the Homebound Ministry. He was a member of the Norview Lions Club and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship by Lions International. Lance was predeceased by siblings, Benjamin Ostlund, Ethel Larson and Dorothy Taylor. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet; daughters, Karen Burbage (P. Edward) and Nancy Carr (Bobby Morris); son, Lance William Ostlund; stepdaughter, Jill Holland (J.B.); stepson, Jimmy Wiseman; grandchildren, Sean, Chris and Jennifer Burbage, Stefanie Prader and Ryan Bradshaw; stepgrandson, Spencer Kantor; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Aidan, Kellan, Brittany and Sarah; two great- great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Johnson of Wisconsin; brothers, Kenneth and Stanley Ostlund of Minnesota; and mother-in-law, Zelda Davis. Memorial services will be held at Virginia Heights Baptist Church by Dr. Jerry Vintinner Tuesday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the General Fund, Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 1251 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, VA 23502. Twifords Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is handling arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.

Janet,
So sorry to hear about Lance. Just wish we would be been there. Nancy and Mary and Lance Jr. you are all in my heart. I know its a tough time but he's in a better place now and he's with mom. Love Deborah Minnesota
