Howard Edwards Obituary

Howard E. Edwards MARGARETTSVILLE - Howard Elliott Edwards, 84, formerly of Boykins, Va., died Nov. 16, 2009, at Courtland Healthcare Center. He was a native of Northampton County, North Carolina, a son of the late Douglas W. and Olie Elliott Edwards, and was predeceased by a son, Wayne Thomas Edwards and a sister, Doris Luter. Howard was an Army veteran of World War II and was wounded in the European Theater. He retired from Aster Nut Company in Boykins, was a former Boykins Volunteer Fireman, and was a member of Roberts Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Donald E. Edwards and wife Shelby of Franklin; five grandchildren, Jennifer Ellen Edwards, Johnathan, Christopher, Brandon and Matthew Edwards; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janie Spicer (Emmerson) of Russell, Pa., Edna Woodard (Jerry) of Milwaukee, N.C.; two brothers, Walter Earl Edwards (Virginia) of Chesapeake and Bobby Lee Edwards (Sybil Jean) of Conway, N.C.; and a special friend, Ella Jean Overby of Branchville, Va. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pendleton, N.C. Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Boykins Chapel of Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to the Boykins Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
