Joseph Parson Obituary

Joseph E. Parson Jr. NORFOLK - Joseph "Lil' Joe" Edward Parson Jr., 61, of the 600 block of Appomattox St., slipped away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Chesapeake. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Joseph E. Parson Sr. and Ruth L. Parson. Joe graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk. He was the operating manager of Quality Food Stores and Christian and Christian Printing, and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, Ivan Boyd and Leonard Parson (Sandra); three nieces, Ivette Isaac (Victor), Kyleah Parson and Dahiki Blakes, two nephews, Ivan Boyd Jr. and Kyle Parson; his aunts, Doris Parson and Nora Parson; a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. His celebration of life will be held Friday, Nov. 20, noon, at St. Thomas AME Zion, 1700 Melon St., Norfolk, VA 23523 with Dr. Joseph E. Lamb Sr. officiating. Burial will be held at Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will receive family and friends at Pretlow & Sons, Funeral Home at 500 Liberty St., Chesapeake from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, and other times at the residence.
