Kevin Marcotte Obituary

Kevin Marcotte VIRGINIA BEACH - Kevin Marcotte, 53, of the 1300 block of Stephens Road, passed away Nov. 14, 2009, at Sentara Norfolk Heart Hospital. He was born in Webster, Mass. to the late Maurice M. and Mary Arlene Marcotte. Kevin recently retired from the International Longshoremen's Local 1624 after 33 years of service. His most recent position was timekeeper for Virginia International Terminals which he held for many years. Kevin was a very unique man; he was loved and respected by just about everyone. He had many accomplishments throughout his life, but the love of his family was to him the most important of them all. Kevin had a deep faith and loved the Lord. He was a member of J.C.'s fellowship which is a outreach ministry for bikers. He reached out to those who needed the Lord, many of whom had never been ministered to. His Lord and his brothers and sisters in the Lord were very dear to his heart. Kevin was a very deeply devoted father, brother and grandfather. Kevin was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Marcotte and his sister, Barbara Marcotte. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, Regina Marie Marcotte, whom he was married to for 33 years; his four children, Ashley Newton of Norfolk, Michelle Kepley of Virginia Beach, Coral Marcotte of Virginia Beach and Eric Evan Marcotte of Norfolk; his three precious grandchildren, Autumn Demaio, Kevin Newton and Eric Marcotte Jr., all of Norfolk; his four brothers, Maurice Marcotte and Jim Marcotte, both of Redondo Beach, Calif., Jack Marcotte of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Richard Marcotte of Norfolk ; his two sisters, Dr. Maurine Gatto of Sea Cliff, Long Island, and Debrah Hensley of Norfolk; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Lucas Clodfelter of Virginia Beach. A funeral will be conducted Friday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. A celebration of Kevin's life will follow the burial. Food and beverages will be served in the Chesapeake Room at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel located on Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The family would like to give special thanks to his home nurse, Julie, for all of her care and dedication over the past two years and his family physician, Dr. Steven Hartline, for his diligence and outstanding care and compassion throughout the years.

From the marcotte family
We would like to thank all of you for your support through this difficult time. My father devoted his life to this family and his work and it is thanks to him this family has the courage, the strength, and the faith in god to pull through this and do great things. We will honor his memory with joy and find comfort in knowing he will no longer suffer and his soul has gone back home to rest in heaven. We will miss him greatly once again thank all of you for your support.

The sorrow of the faithful is not that of permanent loss, but the tender sense of sadness that comes in saying good-bye for now to someone we love. May today's sorrow give way to the peace and comfort of God's love.

Many prayers for Regina and her family at this sad time. Kevin was a great man, and he will be missed.

Marcotte Family,

My respects to the Family. Kevin was an
an exceptional Man. He would help you in anyway he could. He took his illness with humor at times. Upbeat!! May you see your Savior's face Kevin and rejoice.

Marcottes,
I will miss Kevin very much. He always greeted me with a smile, and usually a joke. His main concern was for Gina and his children. A truly nice man with a big heart.
