Clinton Cox Obituary

Clinton McKay Cox MOREHEAD CITY - Clinton McKay "Tuffy" Cox, 73, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Carteret General Hospital. He was born in Norfolk Oct. 19, 1936 to William Norment Cox and Virginia Green Cox. Mr. Cox attended Granby High School in Norfolk, United States Marine Corps Boot Camp in Parris Island, S.C., Infantry Training at Camp Geiger, N.C., Sea School in Portsmouth, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh. A funeral will be held at 4 p.m. today, Nov. 22, at First United Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Billy F. Seate, officiating and the associate pastor, the Rev. Ben Sims, assisting. The committal service with military honors will take place Monday at 1 p.m. at Ashpole Cemetery, Rowland, N.C. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lois Meek Cox; sons, Clinton McKay Cox Jr. and wife Susan Grossman of Brooklyn, N.Y., William Burton Cox and wife Lynn Frazier of Morehead City, N.C., Charles Norment Cox and wife Lana Casto of Augusta, Ga.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Price; and brother, William N. Cox. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Carteret County, Inc., P.O. I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Cox. He was a great role model for me in high school, and always had a good word for me. I cherish the memories of him and wish the family peace and comfort in this time of grief.
