Cloria Rayner Obituary

Cloria M. Rayner CHESAPEAKE - On Nov. 23, 2009, after a courageous battle with breast cancer, an angel was dispatched to carry home Cloria M. Rayner of the 2000 block of Centerville Turnpike South. Born in Norfolk County, she retired from Sentara Nursing Facility after 35 years of service. She was a member of United House of Prayer For All People, Chesapeake. She was the first of 11 born to the late Deacon Joshua and Emma Smith. Survivors include four daughters, Betty Spellman (Ronnie), Kristina Casimir, Jacqueline Freeman, Joyce Hutchinson; one son, Rudolph Rayner Jr. (Carol); five sisters, Emma Sivels (Boston), Alberta Phillips, Della Cowell, Ida Benson, Brenda Buggs (George); a foster sister, Kimberly Parker (McKinley); eight brothers, Pastor Joshua Smith Jr. (Mildred), Robert Smith (Barbara), Pastor James Smith (Amelia), Deacon George Smith (Ida), Joey Smith (Bernadette), Deacon Stephen Smith, George Ferebee; adopted brothers, Johnnie Boone and Deacon Willie Sears; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; former husband and special friend, Mr. Rudolph A. Rayner Sr.; a host of relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 28, at noon in United House of Prayer For All People, 1433 Whittamore Road, Chesapeake, with Apostle W.P. Scott presiding. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. The viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. A special thank you to Dr. J. Munalula for his compassion, care and support.
