Cordelia Spence Obituary

Cordelia Spence CHESAPEAKE - Cordelia Spence of the 1900 block of Martin Ave. died Nov. 23, 2009, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A founding member of Cathedral of Faith COGIC, she was also active with the Mother's Board and the Missionary Board. She was a former member of St. Stephens COGIC and retired from Chesapeake General Hospital as a unit secretary. Survivors include seven daughters, Jacqueline Lankford, Camille Spence, Ella Woodard, Ruby Spence, Belinda Spence, Betty Higgs and Aleta Spence; two sons, Hollis E. Spence and Lavon Spence; one sister, Doris Mullins; a brother, Lavon Clemmons; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Christel Sparks. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Cathedral of Faith COGIC, 2020 Portlock Road, Chesapeake, with Dr. G. Wesley Hardy presiding. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery, Chesapeake. The remains will be ready for viewing today from 3:30 to 8 p.m. The family will assemble at 1933 Martin Ave., Chesapeake, at noon for the procession. Carlos A.
