Donald Owens Obituary

Donald Owens VIRGINIA BEACH - Donald Owens, 81, of the 4600 block of Miles Standish Road, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at his home. Born in Norfolk, Donald was a retired operations analyst for NARF, he served four years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a master chief in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was a longtime member of the Toastmasters Club and the Haygood Bowling League. Donald was an avid fisherman and an artist, whose motto was "Family First." He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Amanda Acklin Owens; seven daughters, Donna Collier and husband Larry, Christina Payne and husband Jerry, Beth Anne Owens, Teri Marie Chong and husband Yong, Gina Hofacker and husband Mitch, Kim Gillkin and husband Ben, and Julie Stone and husband Bobby; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Reginald George Owens; sister-in-law, Angelina Shores; and brother-in- law, Henry Jablonski. A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Sunday at Haygood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Shumate. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Dear Family,

Our hearts go out to you today in the loss of such a wonderful family man. We have lifted prayers for your family and we continue to pray for your strength in this time.
