Wilbur Harrell Obituary

Wilbur L. Harrell PORTSMOUTH - Wilbur Lee Harrell, 88, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 2009. He was a native of Portsmouth, a lifelong member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church, and also a member of the Walter Gardner Coffee Club. Mr. Harrell was a member of Tidal Wave Masonic Lodge No. 273 and the Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was an Army veteran of World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Harrell is survived by his wife of 68 years, Corinne Grady Harrell; daughters, Judith Harrell Kunold and Lee Harrell Bartlett and her husband Randolph W. Barrtlett; three grandchildren, Dana Lin Copeland, Patrick D. Bartlett and Charles T. Bartlett; a brother, Gordon B. Harrell. He was predeceased by his brother, Melvin Harrell and two sisters, Mary Harrell Doughtie and Eleanor Harrell Garner A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Port Norfolk Baptist Church by Rev. Terry Taylor and Dr. Ector L. Hamrick with visitation to follow in the church reception hall. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling the arrangements and condolences may be made at www.lovingfuneralhome.com. The family suggest memorial contributions to Port Norfolk Baptist Church.

Mrs. Harrell and family, sympathies to you during this difficult time. Mr. Harrell was so nice and kind and a good neighbor to my mother, Jane Appenzeller, when she lived next door in Nottingham. You are in my prayers.
