Ethel Souch Obituary

Ethel Virginia Souch PORTSMOUTH - Ethel Virginia Souch, 91, of the 300 block of Broad St., died Nov. 29, 2009, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. She was born in Nansemond County, Virginia, and lived most of her life in Portsmouth. She was predeceased by her parents, Iola and Josephus Brinkley; sister, Mamie Hathaway; as well as her first husband, Melvin J. Burch; and her second husband, Mitchell Souch. Survivors include a daughter, Dianne S. Culpepper, two sons, Melvin J. Burch Jr. and Michael R. Souch, all of Portsmouth; two brothers, Joseph Willard Brinkley of Williamsburg and Wallace E. Brinkley of Springfield, Va.; four grandchildren, Kenneth W. Burch, Sharon B. McDowell, Tristan T. Culpepper and Gina C. Ross; and seven great -grandchildren. A funeral will be held at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, Thursday at 2 p.m. with Dr. Walter Black officiating. The burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www. snellingsfuneralhome.com.
