Lillie Ewell Obituary

Lillie Mae Ewell VIRGINIA BEACH - Lillie Mae Dozier Ewell, 65, went to be with the Lord Nov. 29, 2009. She was born Dec. 2, 1943, in Princess Anne County, Virginia, (Pungo). She was the daughter of the late George Odell and Mary Elizabeth Dozier. Lillie Mae loved to garden, she grew both flowers and vegetables. She was a NASCAR fan but her greatest love was her family and Sugar Bear. Lillie Mae was very devoted to her family, always making sure they had what they needed and were well taken care of especially her parents in their later years. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin O. Dozier, Lydell L. Dozier and Roy O. Dozier; sisters, Rosa Dozier Martin and Lucille Dozier Fentress; and a very special friend, Frank Bateman. Lillie Mae was a lifelong member of Pungo Church of God. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Brenda Dozier Johnson and husband Rocky, Joyce Ewell Midgett, Rosie Ewell Dozier, Elizabeth Ewell Beatty and husband Sam and Virginia Ewell and husband Frank; 10 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; a surviving brother, David E. Dozier; her much-loved significant other, Donald R. Ansell; her much- loved furry friend, Sugar Bear; numerous other loving family and friends. A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 4, at noon in Pungo Church of God, 3572 Robinson Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Earl Stanley. Burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and family in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. You may offer condolences to the family at www.mem.com.
