Margaret Smith Obituary

Margaret Ellen Smith VIRGINIA BEACH - Our beloved mother Margaret Ellen Smith of 89 years joined our father Nov. 29, 2009, as he reached out to offer his hand for the next dance. As each new day comes, pause and share a smile, and a prayer for all that will never be forgotten. Margaret, a native of Virginia Beach, was born Nov. 7, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Smith, and sons, James and Everett Smith. Our mother will watch over her daughter, Sandi Payne and her husband Russ; her sons, Trenton Carroll, and Buddy Smith and wife Sharon; brother, Howard Jones and wife Jeanette; plus 11 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to daughter-in- law, Stella Smith, for all her support and kindness. Also, special thanks to Connie, Barbara, Lynn and the staff at BayPointe Nursing for their compassion and kindness. Margaret, in all of her splendor, brought warmth, sunshine and happiness in the lives of whomever she met with a cheerful smile and kind word. We know the warmth she shared with family and friends brought peace and joy to many. Come join us in a celebration of Margaret Ellen Smith at Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church, 245 S. Rosemont Road, Saturday, Dec. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m. with memorial service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity or Princess Anne Plaza in Margaret's name.

My heart goes out to all of you at this sad time.
With all of the hours my family spent with yours growing up, I do not remember her "yelling" at any of us. Disciplining us, yes, but not yelling at us, and we definitely deserved it. We were all a handful!
What a great gal she was and what fun we all had at her 80th birthday celebration. I know she will be greatly missed.
Love to each of you,
Pamela Smith Stone

I was so sad to hear about Aunt Peggy. I still remember the Sunday dinners at her and uncle Buds house out on Salem Rd. That was so many years ago, when I was just a little girl. She will be greatly missed.
