Bobby Jones Obituary

Bobby R. Jones PORTSMOUTH - Bobby Ray Jones, 74, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009. He was a native of Selma, N.C., and retired after 26 years as a district manager for The Virginian-Pilot. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Sedath, and son, David Jones. He is survived by his wife, Carol S. Jones; four daughters, Christie Bell of Portsmouth, Vera Bodykins of Chesapeake, Cheryl Moll of Virginia Beach and Kim Bassnight of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Mark Meidel of Smithfield; two sisters, Audrey Honkin of Orlando, Fla., and Vara Creech of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Shelton Jones of Winston Salem, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at Alexander Baptist Church, 4316 Pamela Court, Chesapeake. I am so sorry. I know it was really rough on you and the kids these last several months. I am sure Bob is up in heaven taking care of some stray cat...If there is anything we can do, all you have to do is call...

I wish to express to the family members of Bobby Jones that I was blessed to have met him at the Chesapeake Center of the Virginian Pilot. He was a wonderful people person whose loving spirit and joyful demeanor made everyone feel happy. God will have a special place for him.
