Lindsay Williams Obituary

Lindsay J. Williams SUFFOLK - Lindsay Julius Williams, "Nick," 67, of the 6000 block of Bradford Drive, died Nov. 23, 2009, in Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk. Lindsay was born in Portsmouth and was a 1960 graduate of I.C. Norcom High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia State College in 1965 and his master's degree in teaching early childhood education in 1994. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1971. He was employed as a second grade teacher with Norfolk Public Schools and retired in 2007 after 18 years of service. Survivors include his daughter, Shelia Lawton Carrick of Newport News; five sons, Stacy D. Williams and Timothy J. Williams, both of Maryland, Eric R. Williams of New York, Lindsay Lawton of Colorado and Troy J. Landon of Portsmouth; his mother, Annie J. Williams of Portsmouth; one sister, Velma A. Williams of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Gabriel Williams, Tiffany Williams, Taylor Williams, and Kendell Williams, all of Maryland. Other survivors include a special niece, Michele Williams Grant of Portsmouth; a special friend, Carolyn L. Williams of Virginia Beach; a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.
