Adalynne Keegan Obituary
Adalynne E. Keegan VIRGINIA BEACH - Adalynne E. Keegan, wife of Earl W. Keegan for more than 64 years, passed away Nov. 30, 2009, after a long illness. Prior to marrying Earl in 1945, while attending Wagner College in New York, Adalynne was a runway model working in the garment district of New York City. Adalynne was a graduate of George Mason University with a degree in art history. She was a devoted mother to their four children, and is survived by three daughters, Leslie Branham, Deborah Keegan, Melanie Myers; one son, David Keegan; and her devoted husband of all these years, Earl; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a volunteer all her married life, a gray lady while her husband was a naval officer and aviator for 26 years, the first president of the USS America Officers Wives Association, a Brownie troop leader, a member and Sunday school teacher of the First Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach, where she was a member with her husband for 58 years. She was an initial member of the food service team from our church for the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center (JCOC) from 1986-1994. She was docent for many years with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and most recently a docent with the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk. Adalynne was always a volunteer for many local community endeavors including the Alanton Garden Club, March of Dimes, American Heart Association and the Sloan Kittering Cancer Research Hospital in New York City. Adalynne will be missed by many. Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium with a family memorial service at a later date. It is requested that any remembrances to Adalynne be made to Sloane Kittering Hospital Cancer Research, New York City. The entire Keegan family wishes to thank everyone for their love, prayers and tender loving care given to Adalynne during these past difficult eight months, especially the wonderful care provided by Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and supporting staff, Seaside at Atlantic Shores for their caring love, and the timely responses by the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. All arrangements for interment are being handled by the Cremation Society of Virginia. Just say "I love you."
