Louis Shipowitz Obituary

Louis Ira Shipowitz VIRGINIA BEACH - Louis Ira Shipowitz, 39, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 in Montana. Louis was born in Norfolk and graduated from Maury High School. Louis was a dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Shipowitz; and his grandfather, Jack Engel. He is survived by his mother, Helene Shipowitz; his brothers, Jay Shipowitz and wife Daphne of Southlake, Texas, and Steven Shipowitz and wife Lisa of Germantown, Tenn.; grandmother, Rosalind Engel; nieces, Jennifer and Jordan; nephews, Benjamin and Gregory; uncle and aunt, Stuart and Nancy Engel; and a dear friend, Leah Brooks and her daughter Breona. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Congregation Beth El or the American Red Cross. A funeral will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg and Rabbi Susan Tendler at the chapel of Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. Internment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
