David Bunin

David Bunin VIRGINIA BEACH - David Bunin was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Charlotte for 64 years. He was the father to Judi Bunin Goodman Duffy and husband Michael and Linda Bunin Shames and husband Steven; grandfather to Sarah Shames Ehret and husband Matthew, Aaron Shames and wife Rachel, Adam Goodman, and Allison Goodman Zofan and husband Yoni; a great-granddaughter, Marissa Ehret; a sister, Eleanor Bunin Glasser Abramson of Florida. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dr. Allan J. Goodman and a brother, Herbert Bunin. David was a skilled craftsman, educator, and builder. He owned and operated Bunin Electric Company. He was appointed to the City of Norfolk Board of Building Code Appeals, Electrical Division. He graduated from Maury High School, Class of 1938, attended The College of William and Mary and VPI where he graduated with a associate degree in radio and electronics. He pursued his doctorate courses at ODU. He acquired a position with Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority as their commercial rehabilitation specialist. He taught at Old Dominion University, Tidewater Community College, and while living in Florida he tutored electrical apprentices at Palm Beach Community College. He also was a builder and designed many prestigious homes in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. In his own words, "I have lived a wonderful, love-filled, happy, productive, and fulfilling life." David was a member of Temple Israel, the Masonic Order, the Scottish Rite Bodies, and Khedive Shrine Center. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Michael E. Panitz. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Temple Israel, 7255 Granby St., Norfolk, VA 23505. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
