Margaret Gregory Obituary

Margaret B. Gregory VIRGINIA BEACH - Margaret Earle Bourdon Gregory, 83, of Burton Drive, the wife of Paul Franklin Gregory Jr., died in her residence Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009. Margaret was born in McKinney, Va., and lived in Virginia Beach most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Edna L. Bryant and Thomas C. Bourdon Sr. and was predeceased by her beloved sister, Lucy (Lou) B. Cashman, as well as a brother, Thomas C. Bourdon Jr. Along with raising three children of her own, many others were touched by her loving hands from babies to grown-ups. To quote a favorite saying of hers, "I was always somebody's mother." "Toots" will be missed by many for her loving nature, as well as her homemade peanut brittle, watermelon rind pickles, fig preserves and sweet iced tea. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Paul F. Gregory Jr.; a daughter, Carolyn G. Podruchny and husband Richard of Chesapeake; a son, Paul F. Gregory III and wife Linda "Susie" of Newport News; a son, Ronald E. Gregory and wife Donna of Virginia Beach; an honorary son, Lane Hayden of Suffolk; a brother, Robert E. Bourdon of The Villages, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Joan Bourdon of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren, Richard Podruchny Jr., Matthew Podruchny, Kenneth Podruchny, Jessica Baker, Shelley Gregory, Paul F. Gregory IV, Daniel Gregory, Aaron Rosenberg, and Kristina Rosenberg; and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at Rosewood Memorial Park with the Rev. Paul Hawkins. Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Ocean Park Rescue Squad. I will also miss Margaret's sweet tea, peanut brittle, and peach ice cream, but most of all I'll miss her fiesty spirit and quick laughter. She truly was a mother to all of us. Thank you, Margaret, for the wonderful impression you left on everyone who was lucky enough to know you.
